It is established that the two languages show great similarities in terms of the use of verb tenses in parataxis. However, there exist essential differences between French and Bulgarian as far as the use of verb tenses in hypotaxis is concerned. %B Съпоставително езикознание / Сопоставительное языкознание / Contrastive linguistics %V 13 %P 10–15 %G bul %N 2 %0 Journal Article %J Съпоставително езикознание / Сопоставительное языкознание / Contrastive linguistics %D 1986 %T Проблематика на подчинените допълнителни изречения в съвременния български език в съпоставка с френския език %A Симеонов, Йосиф %X The co-ordination possibilities of the Bulgarian indicative tenses in object clauses and in the various periods and sectors of the metaphoric temporal line are contrasted to the corresponding possibilities of the French indicative tenses. Thus a framework is set up which can be used to model a rather complex item of Bulgarian syntax. %B Съпоставително езикознание / Сопоставительное языкознание / Contrastive linguistics %V 11 %P 5–12 %G bul %N 5 %0 Journal Article %J Съпоставително езикознание / Сопоставительное языкознание / Contrastive linguistics %D 1985 %T Закостенели именни падежни форми, функциониращи като наречия, в българския и полския език %A Симеонов, Симеон %X In Bulgarian and Polish some petrified noun case forms occur as adverbs, formed by semantic and formal change during the process of adverbialization of Prepositional Phrases and by semantic derivation (conversion) of nominal case forms. Singular forms of nouns in the Accusative, the Instrumental and the Locative cases prevail among the adverbialized forms. The contrastive analysis shows an almost total lack of dative adverbs in Bulgarian. The „definite/indefinite“ correlation of temporal adverbs is also an important typological feature in Bulgarian. %B Съпоставително езикознание / Сопоставительное языкознание / Contrastive linguistics %V 10 %P 33–39 %G bul %N 3 %0 Journal Article %J Съпоставително езикознание / Сопоставительное языкознание / Contrastive linguistics %D 1984 %T Модалността преизказност и начини за предаването £ в съвременния френски език в съпоставка с българския %A Симеонов, Йосиф %X The sender of the message in Bulgarian (either in the spoken or in the written media) enjoys the opportunity to encode morphologically his objective or subjective attitude towards the contents of the message by alternatively using two morphologically marked verb forms within the framework of one and same grammatical tense. A three-way correlation is defined among the past tense forms based on their identical referential value. The correlation is characterized by the following componential features: objectivity + eye-witness perception by the speaker (седеше ‘He was sitting’); objectivity + second-hand information, supplied to the speaker (седял е ‘I was informed he had been sitting’); subjectivity + lack of information by the speaker (седял ‘He may have been sitting’). Citational modality varies from a minimum to a maximum degree of subjectivity, i. e. from the purely narrative function to the emphatic uses of the verb forms. When the speaker suddenly switches from the ‘lack of information’ state to the ‘eye-witness perception’ state he reacts emotionally to the objective entity he is witnessing (че той седял / бил седял! ‘He might have been sitting’, ‘Sitting he was, indeed!’). This general semantic outline is used as a starting point for the contrast of linguistic means used to render the various semantic components of the Bulgarian citational modality forms in French. %B Съпоставително езикознание / Сопоставительное языкознание / Contrastive linguistics %V 9 %P 13–18 %G bul %N 3 %0 Journal Article %J Palaeobulgarica / Старобългаристика %D 1983 %T Чрьтами и рѣзами чьтаах7 и гатаах7 погани с7ще %A Симеонов, Борис %B Palaeobulgarica / Старобългаристика %V 7 %P 84–87 %N 2 %0 Journal Article %J Palaeobulgarica / Старобългаристика %D 1981 %T Булгари и пугури %A Симеонов, Борис %B Palaeobulgarica / Старобългаристика %V 5 %P 112–116 %N 3 %0 Journal Article %J Palaeobulgarica / Старобългаристика %D 1981 %T Булгари и пугури %A Симеонов, Борис %B Palaeobulgarica / Старобългаристика %V 5 %P 112–116 %N 3 %0 Journal Article %J Съпоставително езикознание / Сопоставительное языкознание / Contrastive linguistics %D 1981 %T Опит за комплексен анализ на френските двойнономинални съчетания във връзка с българските им съответствия %A Симеонов, Йосиф %X The problem of the complex relations existing in bi-nominal combinations in French and their correspondences in Bulgarian is treated in conformity with the principles of operational linguistics. In them the word sam/samà means ‘line, letter, sign’, sis/siz/cis/ciz/čis/čiz/sizmak ‘draw, write and guess and read’. Because of these meanings the word as a whole means ‘drawing and guessing the signs’, i. e. it corresponds exactly to the well-known expression used by Černorizec Hrabăr which says that the old Bulgarians „with lines and notches used to read and guess like real pagans“. The people who bore this title were probably court annalists who were able to understand and write Greek and Huns’ runic characters. %B Съпоставително езикознание / Сопоставительное языкознание / Contrastive linguistics %V 6 %P 75–79 %G bul %N 3–5 %0 Journal Article %J Palaeobulgarica / Старобългаристика %D 1979 %T Произход, структура и значение на името българи %A Симеонов, Борис %B Palaeobulgarica / Старобългаристика %V 3 %P 69–76 %N 2 %0 Journal Article %J Palaeobulgarica / Старобългаристика %D 1979 %T Произход, структура и значение на името българи %A Симеонов, Борис %B Palaeobulgarica / Старобългаристика %V 3 %P 69–76 %N 2 %0 Journal Article %J Palaeobulgarica / Старобългаристика %D 1979 %T Происхождение и значение исторического родового имени Дуло %A Симеонов, Борис %B Palaeobulgarica / Старобългаристика %V 3 %P 85–87 %N 1 %0 Journal Article %J Palaeobulgarica / Старобългаристика %D 1979 %T Происхождение и значение исторического родового имени Дуло %A Симеонов, Борис %B Palaeobulgarica / Старобългаристика %V 3 %P 85–87 %N 1 %0 Journal Article %J Съпоставително езикознание / Сопоставительное языкознание / Contrastive linguistics %D 1978 %T По въпроса за хронологичната координация при подчинените допълнителни изречения в българския и френския език %A Симеонов, Йосиф %X The author studies contrastively the formal means used in Bulgarian and French in the organization of the chronological co-ordination as regards the introducing fact in subordinate object clauses. The study shows that within the framework of non-actuality, Bulgarian uses both the past tenses system (plusquamperfectum, imperfectum, futurum praeteriti) and the primary co-ordination system (perfectum, praesens, futurum), while French makes use only of the past co-ordination system. In the past, i. e. when the fact of the subordinate clause has ceased to be actual, the use of the grammatical tenses of the primary co-ordination system, though surprising to the foreigner, does not mean that Bulgarian is illogical; on the contrary, it shows its originality. %B Съпоставително езикознание / Сопоставительное языкознание / Contrastive linguistics %V 3 %P 34–40 %G bul %N 6 %0 Journal Article %J Съпоставително езикознание / Сопоставительное языкознание / Contrastive linguistics %D 1977 %T По въпроса за аспекта на френския глагол и вида на българския глагол (Le problème de la correspondance de l’aspect du verbe français et du vid du verbe bulgare) %A Симеонов, Йосиф %X Еtablir la correspondance de l’aspect du verbe français (aspect simple, aspect composé, aspect surcomposé) et du „vid“ du verbe bulgare (traduisant l’opposition fondamentale de l’imperfectif et du perfectif) n’est pas une tâche facile.
