Among toponyms in both languages there are full (formal-semantic) and formal (only at the level of expression) reverse derivatives. Adjectives are only formal reverse derivatives. Reverse derivation in toponyms functions within the framework of double derivation, along with the lexico-semantic one. The lexical groups in Russian and Bulgarian in question are characterized by a high degree of parallelism. Corrections in the typology of Russian compound adjectives with coordinating relationships are made and general results are listed of the investigation of the combinability, the word-formation structures and the word-formation typology of such adjectives which were formed during the Liberation Russo-Turkish War of borrowed names of Bulgarian geographic sites. These derived words are classified into two word-formation types, one of which includes derived adjectives of pure composition and the other – derived adjectives of compound-suffixal word-formation.

The metonymic senses of polysemantic words and metonymic homonyms are the result of the univerbalization of certain syntactic units. On the content plane the derivatives coincide with the semantics of the syntactic units that had generated them, while their plane of expression is the result of rederivation. The initial lexical unit is a member of the respective syntactic unit or the generating word in oblique syntactic position: e. g. The external relationships are the actual or apparent result of a derivational act and accordingly they can be primary or secondary. The internal derivational relationships of the semantic components of the motivated polysemantic words can be likewise primary and secondary depending on whether they are the result of an actual or an apparent internal (semantic) derivation. The semantic structure of the motivated polysemantic words is the sphere of interaction between word-formation (as a process and a result) and semantic derivation. The study of this interaction and its results is a question of great importance. VL - 4 IS - 4 ER -
