This specification defines the 5th major revision of the core language of the World Wide Web: the Hypertext Markup Language (HTML). In this version, new features are introduced to help Web application authors, new elements are introduced based on research into prevailing authoring practices, and special attention has been given to defining clear conformance criteria for user agents in an effort to improve interoperability.

A number of Old Church Slavonic texts are described and analyzed, as both a critical edition and a translation with commentary. These texts include The Vision and Interpretation of Daniel, The Revelation of Pseudo-Methodius Patarensis, The Last Vision of Prophet Daniel, Prophet Isaiah’s Vision of the Final Days, The Oracles of Leo the Wise, and Andreas Salos’ Apocalypses. The Bulgarian tradition is analysed by examining not only the reception of Byzantine texts in Bulgaria, but also the reproduction and transformation of such texts, as well as the creation of an impressive number of original works, including Isaiah’s Narrative, The Bulgarian Apocryphal Chronicle, Pandeh’s Prophetic Story, The Story of Sibyl, and Razumnik-ukaz. The production of this type of medieval literature in the Byzantine-Slavonic commonwealth covers a wide variety of genres, including narrative works, chronicles, questions and answers, and brief oracles. The proliferation of this unique phenomenon of historical and apocalyptic works in medieval Bulgaria has no analogue in other Slavic literatures.

The MIT Press.0 aHistorical Linguistics An Introduction The MIT Press a2 aBostonbMIT Press a4703 aThis accessible, hands-on text not only introduces students to the important topics in historical linguistics but also shows them how to apply the methods described and how to think about the issues; abundant examples and exercises allow students to focus on how to do historical linguistics. Distinctive to this text is its integration of the standard topics with others now considered important to the field, including syntactic change, grammaticalization, sociolinguistic contributions to linguistic change, distant genetic relationships, areal linguistics, and linguistic prehistory. Examples are taken from a broad range of languages; those from the more familiar English, French, German, and Spanish make the topics more accessible, while those from non-Indo-European languages show the depth and range of the concepts they illustrate. This second edition features expanded explanations and examples as well as updates in light of recent work in linguistics, including a defense of the family tree model, a response to recent claims on lexical diffusion/frequency, and a section on why languages diversify and spread.

Developing the thesis of at least two authors in the Hippolytan corpus, he proposes a new, redactional explanation of the relation between these different authors and the theological and social tensions to which their work bears witness. Brent reconstructs a picture of the community that contextualizes both the Hippolytan literature and in particular the Statue, for which he proposes a new interpretation as a community artefact though universally misjudged as a monument to an individual.
Tertullian's relationship with Callistus is finally re-assessed. This work is thus an important contribution to new understandings of a period critical both for the development of Church Order and embryonic Trinitarian Orthodoxy.
The present volume contains revised versions of selected papers from the general sessions of {ICHL} 9. The 34 papers cover topics from the full range of contemporary historical linguistic scholarship. The papers address issues of language change in a large variety of languages and language families, both Indo-European and non-Indo-European: students of Germanic linguistics will likely find the volume to be of particular interest, as more than a dozen contributions deal with developments in Afrikaans, Dutch, English, German and Icelandic. The volume includes an index of names and languages.
