За някои функционални съответствия на българския определителен член в белоруски

On the basis of the semantic category of definiteness we study the functional equivalents of the Bulgarian definite article in Byelorussian. In addition to expressing definiteness, the Bulgarian definite article has developed some purely grammatical functions. Conversely, Byelorussian makes use of grammatical means (case inflection) to express this semantic category. The role of demonstrative pronouns, reliance on context and other factors are also discussed. For lack of space we do not discuss the functional sentence perspective aspect of the problem.
